1Slains 4154 390 385 4

A difficult start with out of bounds on the left and whins on the right. A tee shot to the plateau needs to be followed by an accurate approach shot to the green.

3Claypits 2744264 254 4

A blind drive through the dunes, but driveable for big hitters and a birdie chance for all golfers. The green is placed in a hollow and is tricky to read.

Demanding par 3 playing straight towards the sea off an elevated tee, sometimes requiring a driver to carry the deep grassy hollow and reach the elevated green.

The plateau tee offers a beautiful view. You will need two long accurate shots to reach the green.

6Bluidy Burn 5255504504 5

A testing par 5 - a full "3 shotter" and a great hole. In front of the tricky plateau green is the "Bluidy Burn".

A dog-leg to the left - big hitters will be tempted to cut the corner. Approach shot to a long narrow green beyond two large sandhills.

8Ardendraught 2574232 2154

A short par 4, but accuracy off the tee is paramount, and your next shot to the green needs fine judgement. You may have to contend with a treacherous putt should you finish above the hole.

A good driving hole with out of bounds on the right and bunkers on the left. The highest hole on the course.

When you stand on the tee all you will want to do is admire the view - camera required here. Your drive needs to fall short of the burn, and your second shot below the hole, as anything past is 3-putt territory.

Hole 11 - Mishanter - 149 yards - par 3
A short but tricky par 3 over the burn, with bunkers front, left and short right.

12Finnyfal 3114297 2794

Out of bounds on the right and rough stuff on the left, but with the wind in your back and a bit of run a driveable hole. The green is not too receptive and hard to read so birdies are not as common as you might expect.

13Bents 5755536 490 5

Another great par 5, with the burn crossing the fairway some 280 yards from the tee. The green nestles behind a large hillock, so you will probably just see the top of the pin as you play your approach shot.

14Whins 38943613484

A great driving hole, with the North Sea on the right as a lateral water hazard. The pin position is indicated by a "box" at the tee as the second shot to the sunken green is completely blind.

Yes it is a blind par 3! You drive over a large hill to a green tucked in a hollow at the base of the dunes.

Towards the 16th green

The "coffins" are the grassy hollows to the right and back of the green which slopes away from you, so your tee shot needs to land short and it will run down on to the green.

17Bilin' Wallie 4244399381 5

You need to decide to play right or left of the big mound in the middle of the fairway - playing left leaves an easier shot to the green, which is slightly elevated with deep bunkers short left and right.

18Hame 3974 374 3634

A good finishing hole with out of bounds on the left and a burn to the right - trust your swing! The pin position on the big green determines the choice of club for your approach shot.
